Unusual Facts about Akitas:

Red Blood Cell Anomalies -- Some Akitas have microcytosis and high red cell K+ content (which can lead to a false diagnosis of hyperkalemia). In any blood work on Akitas, red cells should be separated immediately from plasma for accurate results.
