History:
A second-generation mason, David Koppen began his career by working under his father,
Charles Koppen - a local bricklayer and masonry contractor. He also learned some tricks of the
trade from his uncle who was in the stucco business. David joined the
Union Bricklayers Local #1, served an apprenticeship for three years and was
taught by local craftsmen the correct methods of construction. He worked
for larger contractors like McGough, and OPUS, for a number of years on large
commercial projects.

David Koppen - Owner and Founder
Koppen Concrete and Masonry
|
David started his
own business in 1983 and has been building a
reputation for top-notch professional work ever since. He specialized in
residential work, and worked for years in new construction for fine builders
such as Custom
One Homes. Most of the brickwork and concrete work on their
earlier homes was done by Koppen Concrete and Masonry.
We are currently focused on the remodeling industry, which includes working
for private homeowners or home remodeling contractors doing such things as
foundations for additions, concrete floors, sidewalks, steps, driveways,
garage floors, patios, along with some colored and stamping work. We
also do concrete and masonry repairs for businesses.
Koppen
Concrete and Masonry has left a lasting mark on the community with our great
craftsmanship. Koppen Concrete and Masonry was selected by the
Marriott Courtyard
in Mendota Heights to enhance their gardens, where we created a beautiful
area for meetings and meditation.
A Hands-On
Owner:
Dave Koppen has
purposely kept his company small, with just a few employees, so he can continue
to be a
hands-on person working in the field. This guarantees that he knows the work is being done to his
specifications and high standards.
We limit
ourselves to how
much work we accept so we do not have to cut corners
to finish existing projects. Most projects are started and stuck with to
the finish before we start another project. Each job is performed as if it
was on our own home. We do not cut corners. We feel that homeowners
should get what they pay for.
The
Koppen family has been part of this community for 60 years.
David
grew up in Woodbury, MN.
He has seen many changes in the Twin Cities' growth from farm
fields to sprawling homes and developments.
