Zacharie Robutel, sieur de la Noue: (1665 - 1732)
He was the son of Claude Robutel, sieur de
Ste.Andre & Susanne de Gabrielle, baptized in Monteal in 1665. He married
Catherine Lemoyne de la Trinite (daughter of Jacques Lemoine & Mathurine
Gode) on 18 April of 1689 in Montreal and they had a son Joachim, born
in 1705 at Bellevue.
His sister (Anne Francoise Robutel Lemarchard)
from 1713 to 1717 was hiring men to go to Fort Michilimackinac, where her
husband (Constant le Marchard, sieur de Lignery) was in command. In July
of 1717 the Governor General of New France sent Zacharie on a mission (with
eight canoes of supplies & voyageurs) to establish three bases for
western trade expansion & exploration. He established forts at Kaministiquia
(Thunder Bay), Lac de la Pluie (Rainy Lake) & "Lac des Assinibouels".
During this period in the west he travels to Dakota lands to obtain peace
between them & the northern tribes. Zacharie died in 1732 at the "baie-des-Puants"
(Green Bay, Wisconsin).
