John Johnston: (abt.1762 - 1828 )
He was the son of William Johnston & Jane Mussenden
born at Craige, Antrim Co., Ireland. In the fall of 1791 John arrived
at Madeline Is. but in 1792 he is in Montreal only to return and settle
at Sault Ste.Marie in the spring of 1793. He married Oshahgushkadawaquay/"Woman
of the Great Meadow" (Susan or Anglice) around this time who was the daughter
of Ojibwe Chief White Fisher (she was a fur trader after her husbands death
and died in 1843 at Sault Ste.Marie). Their children were; George (m.Wassidjeewinoquay),
William, Jane (Obahbahmwawagezhegoquay) (m.Henry R.Schoocraft in 1823),
Anna Maria (Omiskabugoquay) (m.James L.Schoolcraft), Charlotte (Ogenabugoquay)
(m.Rev.William McMurray), Louis Saurin, John McDowall & Eliza (Wahbamungoquay).
