Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia) has some of the most adept troops in Africahaving honed their skills on both sides of a bloody civil war. Although Rhodesia practiced segregation similar to South Africa's Apartheid, most special forces units (except the SAS) were racially integrated, even at the height of the civil war. Now all units are integrated. Foreign mercenaries could, and, under certain circumstances, can still join Zimbabwean unitsif they qualify. The old Rhodesian army consisted mainly of special forces, (listed below), militia troops, and the "Gukurahundi", (People's Storm), a unit trained by North Korea (until 1983) and then the British, that operates Zimbabwe's only mechanized forces. The old British-style regiments have mostly disbanded without ceremony. Basic Training: Commonwealth (Gukurahundi - Soviet) Special Forces:
