Japan is a pacifistic country, so it's military is not overly highly regarded by the general population.

 That being said, the Japan Self-Defence Forces are generally quite wellequipped.

 Basic Training: American

Notes:

 The Type 62 Battle Rifle is an interesting weapon, rare outside Japanese service. It's a selective fire weapon that is optimized to fire a special reduced-charge 7.62mm round issued only by the Japanese army. This reduces the recoil, allowing the weapon to be fired with far greater control on fullautomatic. It can can also fire the standard 7.62mm NATO round.
