[Artillery Basics]

"I'm a Forward Observer. That's what I did in the Marines, and now I'm doing it for Guardian Security. Who'da thunk ita freelance forward observer?

"In the Corps, I'd be observing for everything from 155 millimeter howitzers to 16 inch naval guns off the battleships. At Guardian, all we got's mortarsit's hard to haul anything bigger.

"The job's still the same, thoughfind a target that usually doesn't wanna be found, and get a bunch of guys that can't see the target to drop shells on them from a long ways away, all the while remembering that the enemy's got a whole lot of guys out trying to find your guns, AND you, to boot.

"The job's dangerous enough on these contract gigs. I hate to think what a 'real' war would be like."

Artillerymen operate the cannon and multiple rocket launchers that provide heavy support for the rest of the army. They also employ forward observers as the "eyes", finding targets for the guns, and fire control people to figure out how to get the shells from the guns to the targets.

Also included are antiaircraft gunners, who operate gun and missile systems to protect the ground forces against enemy air attack.
