Pierre-Esprit, sieur de Radisson: (1634/40 - 1710)
Pierre was the son of Pierre-Esprit Radisson
I (b.1590 in Avagnon, France) & Madeleine Hainault (Madeleine also
married Sebastien Hayet), born France. He had two sisters; Elizabeth (1638-1722)(m.
Claude Jutras dit Lavallee in 1657 at Trois-Rivieres) & Francoise/Marguerite
(abt.1635-1677)(m.1st. to Claude Volant de Grand-Menil & 2nd.to Groseilliers).
He arrived in New France as a youth on 21 May 1651. Pierre's
travels with Medard Chouart, sieur des Groselliers and his involvement
with the Hudson Bay Co. have been well documented. [See "The Explorations
of Pierre Esprit Radisson" Ross & Haines, Inc., Mpls., 1961 - original
manuscript in the Bodleian Lib. & the British Museum]. Pierre-Esprit
died in London, England in 1710.
