FLAT-MOUTH / GUELLE PLATTE / ESHKEBUGECOSHE / AISHKIBUGIKOZSH:

Flat-Mouth (b.abt.1773-d.1852) was a civil Chief at Leech lake (Pillagers) by 1805 when Pike visited while on his American discovery mission. His parents were Wasonaunequa (Yellow-Hair) & a Dakota woman.(he had a brother - Beaux). He was reported to have grown up in the plains, west of the Red River. In 1812 he refused Col.Robert Dickson's plead to go to war against the Americans and fight for the British cause. In 1837 he was at Treaty negotiations at Ft.Snelling.
