Our Garden 1996-2005 As
you can see, we have an urban lot. The backyard is
full of plants, but much less landscaped. There is
an uncomely chainlink fence that came with the house, and
eventually we'll get rid of it. I'm not in a big
hurry because it is very functional. It keeps out
rabbits fairly well and it doesn't shield my plants from
light, or hide the view of my neighbor's plantings, which
run right along ours on the other side of the fence.
I've been working on veiling it a bit with birch branches
and vines. |

Main bed in backyard. Late July 1996: Echinacea, Rudbeckia, Eupatorium, Liatris. |
On the right is my favorite thatlictrum
aquilegiafolium, the bright yellows are trolius. The strange
presence to the left of center is a tree branch stuck in
the ground, covered with Sculpy fabrications made by our
nieces, Sandy's mother, and ourselves. |

A hybridized Thalictrum
that I developed myself. As far as I know, I'm the
first to cross t. flavum glaucum and t.
rochebrunianum. The result is a sterile, sturdier
plant that blooms significantly longer than either parent.
It is a very nice and attractive plant.
